Frequently asked questions

How much does VerseUp cost?

VerseUp is free. There are no ads and no paywall. We may introduce optional paid features in the future; if we do, you'll see it announced in the app first.

Which Bible translations do you support?

At launch, VerseUp supports the King James Version (KJV) and the World English Bible (WEB). Both are in the public domain. We plan to add more translations as licensing allows.

What devices does VerseUp run on?

iOS and Android. The app requires iOS 13 or later and Android 7 (API 24) or later.

How do streaks work?

You earn one streak day for every day you complete at least one exercise. If you miss a day, your streak resets to zero — but a one-time "streak freeze" can save it. Streaks are calculated in your device's local time zone.

Why isn't my recitation being graded?

Speaking exercises need microphone access. If you denied microphone permission at install, go to your phone's Settings → VerseUp → Microphone and turn it on. The Freestyle feature also needs an active internet connection, since recitation grading runs in the cloud.

Can I use VerseUp without an account?

No — your learning progress, friends, and leaderboard rank are all tied to your account. We've kept account creation as light as possible: email + password, or one-tap Google / Apple sign-in.

Can I hide myself from the leaderboard?

Yes. Open Profile → "Show me on the leaderboard" and turn it off. You'll still see everyone else; they just won't see you.

How do I add my own verses?

From the Collections tab, tap "Create" to make your own collection, then add lessons and verses to it. Your custom collection is yours by default; you can flip it to public from the edit sheet so others can search for it.

How do I report a user or inappropriate content?

Email verseup-support@benlottejnr.org with the username and a short description. We review reports within 24 hours and remove content that violates our Terms of Service.

How do I delete my account?

Use the delete-account page. You don't need to be logged in.

What's the Diamond / Ruby / Sapphire tier thing?

Each verse you've learned gets a "sword tier" based on how well you retain it over time. Iron is brand new, Ruby is permanent. The tiers are explained in detail on the homepage.
